The Lion tennis team hosted Franklin County in EIAC action Tuesday. The Wildcats won all five varsity match to send Rushville to 1-6 on the season and 0-3 in the EIAC.
“Our young team is keeping us satisfied with their effort despite taking it on the chin in most of our matches. Our scores are improving, so we fell like we are headed in the right direction and we’re getting better every day,” Coach Holly Heuer said.
At No. 1 singles, Jake Fowler lost 6-0, 6-0 to Cole Meyers. At No. 2 singles, Paul Hershberger fell in three sets 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 to Jeremy DeFosett. At No. 3 singles, Will Hogsett lost 7-5, 6-2.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of Brandon Slaton and Michael St. John lost 6-0, 7-6 (7-5). At No. 2 doubles, Adam Martin and Andrew Rice lost 6-2, 6-4 to Jacob Baudendistel and Tyler Calihan.
In junior varsity singles, Chase Hamilton defeated John Oetzel 8-4 and defeated Trevin Manderschied 6-3.
