Lady Tigers hold off Lady Lions

Triton Central brought one of the top scorers in the state with them to the pitch to take on Rushville in soccer action. Triton Central’s Samantha Dewey scored three goals (24 on the season) to lead the Lady Tigers to the 5-2 victory.

Two Dewey goals gave the Lady Tigers the lead 2-0. Rushville came back with a pair of goals from Emilee Rogers to tie the score at 2-2. Triton Central added three goals in the second half to seal the win and improve to 4-1 on the season.

Rushville had shot on goal by Jill Yager, Shyla Sharp, Jordan Linville and Rogers. Yager and Sharp had the assists on Rogers’ two goals.

Nici Martin tallied 18 saves in goal for the Lady Lions.

Coach Karen Brashaber was happy with the girl’s offensive attacks and

how they kept crashing the goal, which was how they got both goals they

scored. She was also pleased with the toughness and effort in shutting

down the Lady Tigers offensive attacks and never letting up. Jill Yager

got high praise in the huddle for being all over the field and playing her

position with skill and intelligence.

“She (Jill) was always where we needed her to be and helped offensively and defensively throughout the whole game,” Coach Brashaber said.
