Lady Lions soccer team starts 0-4

---- — The Lady Lion soccer team opened the season with a 1-0 loss at Centerville.

Rushville tallied four shots on goal – one each from Shyla Sharp, Emilee Rogers and Jordan Linville.

Centerville scored with 2:50 to play in the second half to seal the win. Rushville’s Nici Martin had 19 saves.

The Lady Lions then traveled to EIAC foe Batesville and fell to a strong Lady Bulldogs squad 9-0.

Batesville led 2-0 at the half and pushed across seven more goals in the second half.

Jill Yager had the Lady Lions’ lone shot on goal. Martin finished with 36 saves.

Rushville again went on the road in conference action by taking on South Dearborn. The Lady Knights posted a 5-0 victory.

The Lady Knights scored one goal in the first half and four in the second.

In the Lady Lions home opener Tuesday, the Lady Patriots of Union County held off the Lady Lions 2-1.

Union County led 1-0 at the half. Rushville got even with a goal from Jordan Linville. A loose ball in front of the Union County net was poked out by Alisha Markley and Linville found the back of the net. The Lady Patriots scored off a corner kick to take the 2-1 victory.

Rushville had shots on goal by Abbey Whitaker, Rogers, Sharp, Markley and Linville.

Martin finished with 14 saves in the game.
