Lady Lions claim tournament title

---- — ANDERSON – The Lady Lion volleyball team posted three wins at the Liberty Christian Tournament Saturday to bring home the team title. The Lady Lions improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Lady Lions defeated Sheridan 25-16, 25-11, University 25-27, 26-24, 15-9 and Liberty Christian 25-15, 23-25, 15-10.

Rushville’s Allison Wainwright, Keragan Niehoff, Kayla Shelton and Keely Springman were named to the all-tournament team.

For the tournament, Wainwright tallied five aces, six kills and 21 digs. Niehoff added one ace, 24 kills and five digs. Shelton had six kills and four digs. Springman finished with five kills, 41 assists and three digs.

Carissa Comstock served one ace. Casey Yager had seven kills. Jacquelyn Hastings had two aces, eight kills and 16 digs. McKenzie Woolston had six aces, two kills and four digs. Tessa Hoeing finished with four aces, one kill and seven digs.

“The girls worked so hard throughout the day on Saturday. The team set winning this tournament as one of their goals for the season and they did a great job of focusing on one game at a time to make it a reality. This is the first time we have won this tournament and we are so proud of the girls,” Coach Meagan Hearne said.
