Spikers open season with win

---- — LEWISVILLE – In the season opener for the Lady Lion volleyball team, Rushville needed just three games to knock off the Lady Titans of Tri 26-24, 25-15, 25-15.

“I am so very proud of the girls and the work they have put in so far this season. We were down 24-21 in the first set and came back to win 26- 24 which, in my opinion, was a game-changing moment. We are becoming more confident in our skills and are having fun as a team and it paid off last night,” Coach Meagan Hearne noted.

As a team, the Lady Lions tallied 12 aces, 29 kills, three blocks, 26 assists and 44 digs.

Individually, Allison Wainwright had one ace, two kills and 11 digs. Casey Yager added seven kills and one assist. Jacquelyn Hastings had two aces, two kills, one block and 11 digs. Kayla Shelton had three kills. Keely Springman finished with one ace, one kill, two blocks, 25 assists and five digs. Keragan Niehoff had three aces, 14 kills and 10 digs. McKenzie Woolston contributed two aces and five digs. Tessa Hoeing had three aces and two digs.

The Lady Lions travel to the Liberty Invitational Saturday.
