Lions drop two on the diamond

RUSHVILLE — BATESVILLE – The Lions ran into a solid pitching performance by Batesville standout Bryan Hoeing in a 6-1 loss to the Bulldogs.

Hoeing pitched all seven innings allowing just two hits and three walks while striking out eight.

Mark Busald suffered the loss for the Lions, pitching three innings and allowing four earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out one.

Austin Maggard had one of the hits for the Lions and scored the lone run.

Austin Niehoff reached base three times with a hit, walk and hit by pitch.

James Brashaber added the RBI offensively and pitched three innings in relief with one earned run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

The junior varsity fell 8-6.



New Castle shuts out Lions

On the road at New Castle, the Lions’ offense was limited to a pair of hits in an 11-0 Trojan victory.

New Castle’s Tyler Smith got the win on the hill. Brad Busald took the and three walks while striking out one.

Kyle Hoeing and Niehoff had one hit each for the Lions.

The junior varsity fell to New Castle 7-1.
