Warren Central wins regional team title

Keim advances to state finals

CONNERSVILLE – No. 9 Warren Central topped No. 6 Center Grove and No. 10 Columbus North for the boys track regional title at Connersville.

The Warriors tallied 89 team points to take the title. Center Grove was second with 66 followed by Columbus North 49, Franklin Central 46.5 and Columbus East 46.

The top three finishers in each event and relay advance to the state finals this weekend in Bloomington.

Rushville’s Zach Keim earned a ticket to the state finals in the pole vault. Keim was the third seed in the regional, but took second place with a height of 13-6 to qualify for the state finals.

Rushville senior Zach Turner was just edged out of a state finals qualifying spot. Turner ran a :40.13 to finish fourth in the 300 hurdles. Turner was also eighth in the 110 hurdles with a time of :15.76.

Ezra Griffith ran a :23.75 in the 200-meter dash.

Evan Dyer ran a 10:27.51 in the 3200-meter run.

The 400-meter relay team of Sam Beavers, Jeremy Ordas, Keith Yager and Dale Clifton finished in :46.31.

The 1600-meter relay team of Beavers, Patrick Duffy, Griffith and Josh Hodge finished in 3:33.05.

The 3200-relay team of Dalton Miller, Duffy, Hodge and Dyer finished ninth in 8:41.61.

Keim finished ninth in the long jump with a distance of 19-11.
