No. 1 Lady Warriors win regional title

SHELBYVILLE – Top ranked Warren Central won the track regional title for girls Tuesday at Shelbyville. The Lady Warriors tallied 113 points. No. 10 Columbus North was second with 91 followed by No. 11 Center Grove 55, Franklin Central 39 and Batesville 32.5 to round out the top five teams.

The top three finishers in each event advance to the state finals June 6 in Bloomington.

The top finisher for the Lady Lions was sixth, where Ellie Sammons finished in the discus with a toss of 120-10.5. Sammons also took eighth in the shot put with a distance of 36-0.

Kayla Shelton finished with a distance of 93-2.5 in the discus.

Katie Egielske finished ninth in the pole vault with a height of 9-0.

The 3200-meter relay team of Brandi Adkins, Monica Dougherty, Kayla Fogg and Arielle Ordas finished in 11:03.94.

In the 100 hurdles, Fran Percell ran a :17.29 and Aubrey Stomberg ran a :17.88.

Fogg finished the 1600-meter run in 6:26.32.

Adkins ran a 2:40.98 in the 800.
