The fifth inning was again the key in the second game, but unfortunately for the Lions, it was a 3-run double by Lawrenceburg’s Jesse Mess that highlighted the frame.
The Lions came back with two runs in the sixth, but could not come all the way back.
Caleb Wiles started and went three innings on the mound, allowing one earned run on two hits. Tague pitched two innings and Busald pitched one inning with three strikeouts.
Tressler, Wagoner, Hamilton, St. John, Tague and Wilson all had singles. Hamilton, Busald and St. John drove in Rushville runs.
The junior varsity Lions traveled to Lawrenceburg and picked up a win 3-2 in the first round of the conference tournament. Fry scattered six hits in 6 1/3 innings with six strikeouts. Nigh closed out the game for the save.
Elijah Miller and Will Hogsett both had two hits.
East Central eliminated the Lions in the second round. Fry had two hits and an RBI. Nigh added the other hit.
