KNIGHTSTOWN – Class 2A No. 8 Knightstown used a 4-run fifth inning to knock off the Lions 8-5 Tuesday in baseball action.
Mitchell Wagoner started on the hill for the Lions and went 4 2/3 innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs with six strikeouts and four walks. Brad Busald finished the game without allowing an earned run and striking out two.
Wagoner led the offensive attack with two singles, a double and a run scored. Chase Hamilton singled, doubled, scored one run and drove in one run. Keith Tressler added a 2-run double and a run scored. Busald, Michael St. John and Michael Tague all added singles.
3A No. 9 Wildcats top Lions
With two outs in the bottom of the third inning, the Franklin County Wildcats scored five runs to take control of the game en route to the 12-2 victory over the Lions.
Busald pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and four earned runs with six strike outs and six walks. Tague pitched in relief.
Tague led the offense with two singles and a run scored. Tressler, St. John and Spenser Wilson all added hits for Rushville.
The Lions host EIAC foe East Central in a doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m. today.
Franklin County also posted a win in the junior varsity contest. The Lion offense was led by Austin Schindler’s one hit and RBI. Andrew Rice and Spencer Fry both added a hit for the Lions.
