Ashley Spurlin Memorial 5K walk/run

The 4th annual Ashley Spurlin Memorial 5K walk/run will be held Saturday, May 17, at the RCHS cross country course and track. Registration is from 9 to 9:45 a.m. with the non-competitive walk/run starting at 10 a.m. All money raised goes to scholarships to RCHS students that want to attend Indiana State University.

BRMS track

The BRMS track teams competed against Doe Creek and Stoney Brook.

Highlights for the Cubs included Brandon Strum first in the shot put and discus; Trevor Valentine first in the long jump and third in the 100; Ira Griffith fourth in the high jump and second in the 800; Jordan Smith second and Michael Howery fourth in the 110 hurdles; Jacob Kirchoff first in the 1600; and Owen Wiles second and Smith fourth in the 400.

Highlights for the Lady Cubs included Brittany Kuhn first, Antonia Walker third and Megan Sasher fourth in the discus; Summer Bowling third in the long jump; Charity Griffith second in the high jump, third in the 1600 and fourth in the 400; Carlie Ford second in the 100 hurdles; Corey Johnson first in the 100 and 200 with Emily Duncan third in the 200; and Shannon Dougherty fourth in the 800.

In the meet with Shelbyville, highlights for the Cubs included Valentine second in the 100; Kirchoff first in the 1600; Sturm second in the shot put and second in the discus with Hunter Campbell third; Wiles third in the 200 and first in the 400 with Smith third; Griffith first in the 800; and Rufus Noe first, Griffith and Kameron Marshall tied for third in the high jump.
