RCHS JV softball

RUSHVILLE — The RCHS JV softball team traveled to Greensburg Monday and came away with 16-13 win over the host Lady Pirates.

The locals plated five runs in the top of the first as Shelbie Brown walked and scored on a Tori Colestock double. Sierra Snow slammed a triple scoring Colestock and Snow scored on a single by Kaitlin Chandler. Chandler scored on a Pirate error, then Jasmine Cook scored on a ground-out by Yessica Leon.

Greensburg went down in order in their half of the first, and the Lady Lions failed to score in their half of the second. The Lady Pirates managed five runs in their half of the second.

Rushville came back with four more runs in the third, with Brown, Gabby Dyle, Chandler and Loggan Hewitt all crossing the plate. The Lady Pirates failed to score in the third, and after three, the Lady Lions led 9-5.

Rushville scored two more runs in the fourth as Hewitt and Leon both crossed the plate. Snow scored again in the top of the fifth for the Lady Lions to made it 12-6, as Greensburg scored once in the bottom half of the inning.

In the sixth, Brown, Doyle, Colestock, and Snow scored to make it 16-6 but the Lady Pirates answered with four runs of their own to make 16-10. The locals went down in order in the top of the seventh. The Lady Pirates managed three runs in the bottom of the inning for the final 16-13 score.

Snow had a triple and a single on the day, Colestock hit a double. Hewitt had two singles. Baylee Heller singled and Chandler singled for the Lady Lions. Doyle went the distance in the circle for RCHS, striking out four, walking seven and giving up 12 hits.
