RUSHVILLE — CONNERSVILLE – The host Lady Spartans of Connersville handed the Lady Lions an 80-52 loss in track action.

Autumn Meece continues to run well for the Lady Lions, winning the 100 and 200. Marisa Hall was second in the 200.

Kayla Shelton won the shot put with Ellie Sammons second. Sammons won the discus with Shelton second.

Sam Harrison won the pole vault with Keely Springman second.

Regan Laker finished second in the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles.

Jacquelyn Hastings finished second in the long jump.

“Connersville provided a very difficult opening season challenge. This is a team that should compete for a sectional championship this year. Coaches Steve Klemme and Kelli Stokes really have their team prepared with a lot of quality depth in their distance and relays. Connersville won all three relays,” Coach Jim Helsley said. “If we are able to turn that result, Rushville wins the meet, so we know what we need to do to improve our standing against them. Our Lady Lions showed improvement over the previous week and will continue to improve throughout the season. New Palestine is on our schedule next, and the team is looking to avenge last year’s loss to the Lady Dragons.”
