Batesville swims to sweep at Connersville

RUSHVILLE — CONNERSVILLE - The Lions and Lady Lions traveled to Connersville to battle the host Spartans and Batesville in swim action. Batesville took home the team titles with Connersville second and Rushville third.

The meet opened with the diving event. Rushville’s Stone Worth finished second for the boys with 124.50. For the girls, Katie Egielske was second with 116.20 and Nici Martin was third with 69.80.

In the 200 medley relay, the Lady Lion team of Courtney Hall, Brenna Hall, Abby Clark and Autumn Meece finished fourth in 2:43.93. The team of Megan Clifton, Michaela Colestock, Gabriela Camacho and Riko Itakura took fifth in 3:33.97. For the boys, the team of Sam Cole, Barry Denton-Nickolas, Worth and Caleb Marsden finished second in 2:27.68.

Rachel Sayman took fifth in the 200 freestyle in a personal best 2:59.61 with Courtney Hall sixth in a personal best 3:15.61. For the Lions, Dalton Miller finished fifth in a personal best 2:20.17 with Austin Greer sixth in a personal best 2:40.52.

In the 200 individual medley, Brenna Hall finished fifth in a personal best 3:31.99 with Clark sixth in 3:38.28.

Meece took fifth in the 50 freestyle in a personal best :33.90. Denton-Nickolas took fourth for the boys in a personal best :29.62 with Marsden fifth in a personal best :29.96.

Sayman finished fifth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:18.08 with Colestock sixth in 1:34.99. For the boys, Worth was fifth in 1:06.94 and Messer was sixth in a personal best 1:19.30.

Clark posted a personal best in the 500 freestyle with a time of 8:06.04. Miller took fifth for the boys with a personal best 6:41.89 with Greer seventh in a personal best 7:35.05.

Rushville’s 200 freestyle team of Brenna Hall, Sayman, Itakura and Meece set a personal best 2:24.9 for fifth. The team of Camacho, Sarah Daubenspeck, Shelbie Brown and Colestock finished sixth in a personal best 3:13.62. For the Lions, Marsden, Jacob Fowler, Miller and Worth took fourth in 1:56.65 and the team of Denton-Nickolas, Cole, Messer and Greer took sixth in a personal best 2:07.94.

In the 100 backstroke, Courtney Hall finished fifth in 1:37.35 and Clifton took sixth in a personal best 2:00.18. Messer took fifth for the boys in a personal best 2:10.65.

Brenna Hall set a personal best 1:30.26 taking third in the 100 breaststroke. Itakura was sixth with a personal best 1:47.55. For the boys, Fowler was fifth in 1:30.21.

Closing the meet, the Lady Lion 400 freestyle relay team of Clark, Sayman, Courtney Hall and Colestock finished fifth in a personal best 5:49.74.
