Lady Lions fell sting of Yellow Jackets
MORRISTOWN - After dominating play in the second set at Morristown to even the match at one set apiece, the Lady Lions could not stop the Yellow Jackets in the third and fourth sets and lost 25-22, 12-25, 25-16, 25-21.
For the Lady Lions, Allison Wainwright tallied one ace, four kills, one block and nine digs. Autumn Meece had two aces and 25 digs. Casey Yager finished with three kills and one assist. Jacquelyn Hastings added one ace, one kill, four blocks and one dig. Kayla Shelton had four kills and five digs. Keely Springman had two aces, one block, 24 assists and four digs. Keragan Niehoff had two aces, 13 kills and 14 digs. Michaela Colestock had three aces and two digs. Morgan VanNatta added two aces and one dig.
The junior varsity Lady Lions cruised to a 25-22, 25-11 victory.
Rushville’s Tessa Hoeing served 16 straight points for a total of 22 on the night, including 10 aces.
The Lady Lions (5-16) traveled to Pendleton Heights Wednesday and lost in three sets 25-12, 25-10, 25-17.
Wainwright had one kill, one assist and three digs. Meece had eight digs and McKenzie Woolston had three digs. Yager added three kills, one block and one assist. Hastings finished with one ace, one kill, one block and two digs. Shelton had two kills. Springman added two kills, one block, 10 assists and five digs. Niehoff had four kills and seven digs.
The junior varsity Lady Lions knocked off Pendleton in three sets 25-15, 14-25, 15-14. The Lady Lions served 89 percent to go along with 16 kills, three blocks, 14 assists and 41 digs.
