MEDC golf outing enjoys a picture perfect day

RUSHVILLE — The Milroy Economic Development Corporation 7th Annual Golf Outing was held on a picture perfect Saturday at Antler Pointe Golf Course in Rushville. The June 14 event will bring in more than $8,000 to help the southern Rush County community. Money raised at the event will be used for ongoing economic development efforts in Milroy.

MEDC President Anne Ewbanks thanked Dr. Bob Jackman, event chair Michelle Herbert and other MEDC board members who welcomed 23 teams the morning of the outing.

Event sponsors were Harcourt Industries, Hoosier Pallet, Jackman’s Animal Clinic, Major Health Partners, Milroy Shoes, State Farm Insurance, Superb Smiles Dental Care and Wells Fargo Bank.

The winning team from the MEDC annual golf outing, playing for Gutters Home Solutions were Mike Eakins, Brandon Eakins, Craig Kuhn and Scott Beckner. Second place was taken by Gwinnups Restoration. Men’s longest putt was by Aaron Kirchoff and women’s longest putt was made by Karmen Gulde. Men’s longest drive was Daryl Keon and Alice McQueen captured the women’s longest drive. “Most honest team” went to RainPro. There were prizes donated from Rushville Republican, Delta, Levensteins and State Farm Insurance.

MEDC gives thanks to Ag Production Enterprises for donating the pork for the outing lunches and Morgrain Partners for preparing it. They also thanked Pavey’s Grocery for donating soft drinks and water. KB Foods donated food for the outing and a number of community volunteers also help make this a very successful and fun-filled event benefiting the community.

MEDC efforts are lighting the way in Milroy. The 2012 outing raised approximately $8,000 for the Milroy Street Light Fund, bringing the southern Rush County community close to a goal of providing a permanent endowment for the light fund. In 2011, the community was able to realize a fundraising goal and worked with Rush County Schools to have playground equipment installed at the new Milroy Elementary School.
