Junior varsity football

The Lion junior varsity football team shut out Greensburg 42-0.

Rushville’s Jacob Wilson scooped up a fumble on the opening kickoff and returned it for a touchdown. Preston Bowling added the 2-point conversion. Tyler Turner caught a pass from Keith Yager with Spenser Wilson adding the 2-point conversion. Yager scored the next touchdown for the Lions. Wilson added a touchdown and 2-point conversion and Bowling rounded out the scoring with another touchdown.

Defensively, Bowling led the Lions with eight tackles followed by Clayton Griffith seven, Spenser Wilson five, Zach Rickett five, Taylor Colvin four, Jase Meyer four, Turner four, Hunter Barnett four, Yager three, Jacob Wilson three, Nate Douglass three, Christian Emerson two, Jakob Lambert two, Sean Donovan two, Adam Richardson one, Caleb Heath one, Jaykeb Thorp one, Tanner Earl one and Caleb Robertson one.

Basketball sign-ups

Sign-ups for girls’ basketball at the Boys and Girls Club of Rush County runs through Nov. 2. The league is for girls in grades 3-6. Practice will begin Nov.6. Practices will be on Wednesday with games on Saturday. For more information, contact William Walker at 932-2765 or 561-1718.

PowerShares QQQ Challenge to be played February 14, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse, InsideOut Sports & Entertainment announced today. The one-night tournament will feature three matches; two one-set semifinal matches, followed by a one-set championship match.

The PowerShares QQQ Challenge is the fourth event on the 12-city

PowerShares Series tennis circuit, featuring legendary tennis players over the age of 30.

“I am excited to get back to Indianapolis and have a chance to compete against these guys,” said Courier, the former world No. 1 and the current U.S. Davis Cup captain. “I have a lot of great tennis memories in Indy, including winning the tournament there in 1993 and playing Davis Cup against Belgium in 1998.”
