Lions shut out EIAC foe Pirates

---- — Rushville traveled to Greensburg for conference soccer action Saturday. The Lions returned home with a 2-0 victory over the Pirates.

After a scoreless first half of action, the Lions got on the board with 20:40 to play in the game. Treyton Meal found the back of the net to give the Lions the 1-0 lead.

Michael Van Schoyck then hit Derrik Justice with an assist as Justice scored an insurance goal to make it 2-0 with just 4:15 to go in the contest.

“Defensively the Lions played well, with Grant Houston filling in for the injured Curtis Wright at sweeper, and Zach Stiers, Zach Keim, and Trent McQueen keeping the Pirates out of the net,” Coach Bob Beeler said.Goalie Frank Sammons recorded five saves.

“Offensively, we controlled the ball for most of the match,” Beeler added. “We kept the ball in our offensive end of the field, and Derrik, Treyton, Ricky Thompson, Luke Sheehan, and Ethan Foster did a great job today.”
