Youth leagues starting: Time for the kids to bowl

Hello bowling fans! This is Jim Ephlin, from the Rushville Bowl, where all the action is.

We have our adult leagues on the lanes with some of them reaching the one third way mark in their schedule. We are currently concentrating on getting the youth leagues started.

The first league called Senior League is slated to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. This league is for bowlers who are in the 7th -12th grades. Teams can be all male, all female, or mixed and can be three or four players in size.

This year we plan on sending the winning team to the State Youth Tournament to be held in Terre Haute. This is a great league for high school bowlers as it kind of serves as a training ground and a place to start if you have any interest in being on the high school bowling team.

Bowlers can sign up one of three ways: 1.) online at, 2.) by phone at 765-932-5389 or 3.) by stopping by the center. We should have flyers in the school this week for interested students.

The Rushville Bowl High School bowling teams have been picked and have started conference play. The girls are 0-1 while the boys are 1-1. Conference play for the Mid Indiana Bowling Conference will be in Rushville for the only time this year this coming Saturday. The girls’ team is made up of Brandi Graham, Lexi Jones, Megyn Kirchoff, Haylee Rains, Morgan Hatten and Kiersten Fowler. The boys’ team consist of J.T. Ephlin, Nick Hutchinson, Michael Dodge, Dylan Kennedy, Dylan Beard, Pat Duffy and Mitchell Wagoner. The girls and boys teams bowl at 2:30 p.m. this Saturday at Rushville Bowl. The boys are coached by Robert Jacobs and have Jim Ephlin as traveling secretary. The girls have Greg Gilbert, Jay and Lisa Fields at the reins.
