---- — Regional harriers were met by wet, cold conditions Saturday at the Rushville semistate for cross country. Warren Central and Franklin Central claimed the regional crowns and Rushville’s Kayla Fogg advanced to the semistate.
The top five teams and top 10 individuals from non-advancing teams qualify for the semistate to be run this Saturday in Carmel.
Franklin Central won the title for the girls with a team score of 25. Warren Central was second with 62 followed by Connersville 97, Roncalli 160 and New Palestine 162 to round out the semistate qualifiers. Other teams included Hagerstown 167, Eastern Hancock 168, New Castle 172, Centerville 190 and Rushville 212.
Franklin Central sophomore Brooke Talhelm won the race in 19:28.
Rushville freshman Kayla Fogg advanced to the semistate with her ninth place finish in 20:21.
Next for Rushville was Brandi Adkins in 22:47. Monica Dougherty finished in 23:09. Brooke Taylor ran a 23:31. Macey Orme crossed the line in 24:36 followed by Megan Clifton 25:57 and Sarah Ford 27:03.
For the boys, Warren Central was first with 44 followed by Roncalli 75, Franklin Central 81, Greenfield-Central 104 and New Palestine 117. New Castle was sixth with 132 followed by Hagerstown 176, Connersville 182, Northeastern 242 and Rushville 265.
New Palestine senior Seth Eagleson won the race with a time of 16:24.
Rushville was led by Kenny Nigh with a time of 18:18. Bryce Conrad was next in 18:52. L.J. Conrad crossed the line in 19:00. Patrick Duffy finished in 19:09. Dalton Miller crossed the line in 19:12 followed by Luke Schombert 19:19 and Austin Dwenger in 19:43.
