Combs invited to games
Rushville graduate and current Trine University football player Blaek Combs has been invited to participate in the All-American Bowl in Minneapolis and the Aztec Bowl in Mexico. Combs is a senior strong safety for the Thunder.
An account has been set up at Wells Fargo in Rushville to take donations in helping Combs raise the sponsorship fees to be able to participate in these opportunities. For more information, contact Tonya Buckley at 765-561-3650.
The BRMS football teams dropped a pair of games to Connersville.
The seventh-grade fell to Connersville 24-12. Offensively for the Cubs, Mason Springman had 70 yards passing. Jordan Smith had 60 yards receiving, 45 yards rushing and one touchdown. Tyler Wilson had 10 yards receiving and one touchdown. Jordan Smith added 45 yards rushing. Zek Phillips had 25 yards rushing. Cameron Craig and Grant Colestock both had 10 yards rushing.
Defensively, Austin Trebley had six tackles followed by Duncan Draper five, Cody Carmony four, Colestock two, Ethan Zeisloft two, Gage Rosenfield two, Springman one, Craig one, Trebley one, Phillips one, Wilson one and Matt Grote one.
The eighth-grade Cubs fell to Connersville 22-12.
For the Cubs, Owen Wiles had 39 yards rushing and 12 tackles. Hunter Campbell had five tackles. Jacob Adkins had 39 yards rushing. Kameron Marshall added seven tackles. Trevor Valentine finished with 67 yards receiving and one touchdown. Brandon Sturm had 14 yards rushing and eight tackles. Anthony Durand had three tackles and Noah Yazel had six tackles.
BRMS cross country
The Benjamin Rush Middle School cross country teams hosted Cambridge City Lincoln Middle School.
For the girls, the Lady Cubs won 22-33. Rushville’s Charity Griffith won the race in 13:14. Katlyn Keim was third (13:55), Shannon Dougherty fourth (14:35), Kiara Thorp fifth (14:35) and Abby Gates ninth (16:24). Other Lady Cub runners were Macy Rolfe 12th, Megann Sasher 13th, Kaitlyn Miller 14th, Jenna Geise 15th, Maddy Lewis 16th, Heather Stanley 17th (PR 19:11) and Clara Kemple 18th.
