Visiting Tigers sweep Lady Lions spikers

Lawrenceburg prevailed in a battle of EIAC volleyball teams at Rushville Wednesday. The Lady Tigers posted a 25-16, 25-19, 25-14 win. The Lady Lions are now 11-6 on the season.

In the opening set, the Lady Tigers jumped out to a 4-1 lead early and built the lead to 12-6. After a Rushville time-out, the Lady Lions started to claw back into the game. A Tessa Hoeing ace pulled the Lady Lions within four at 15-11. After a Lawrenceburg miss hit, the lead was down to 15-13.

The Lady Tigers went on a 10-3 run to close out the win.

Rushville turned the table to start the second set. A Casey Yager kill and two Keragan Niehoff tips had the Lady Lions up5-2. Another big jump serve by Hoeing pushed the lead to 7-2.

Lawrenceburg fought back to take the lead on a kill by Sidney Todd and ace by Riley Brunner. A Yager tip for the Lady Lions evened the set at 14-14, but kills by Amber Rox, Todd and Paxton Parris put the set away.

The Lady Tigers used that momentum to cruise to a 25-14 win in the final set.

For the Lady Lions, Allison Wainwright had one kill, one assist and seven digs. Brenna Hall had one ace and two digs. Carissa Comstock had one dig. Yager finished with four kills, one assist and two digs. Kayla Shelton added one kill and two digs. Niehoff had eight kills and three digs. Keely Springman finished with one ace, one kill, 10 assists and four digs. McKenzie Woolston added one kill and three digs. Hoeing tallied three aces and seven digs.

On the road at Batesville, the Lady Lion volleyball team fell to the Lady Bulldogs in three sets 25-17, 25-10, 25-17. Rushville is now 11-5 on the season.

For the Lady Lions, Allison Wainwright had three aces, one kill and eight digs. Brenna Hall had six digs and Carissa Comstock had to digs. Casey Yager finished with one kill and two digs. Kayla Shelton added one kill. Keely Springman tallied one kill and 10 assists. Keragan Niehoff added one ace, five kills and 10 digs. McKenzie Woolston finished with four digs and Tessa Hoeing had three kills and three digs.
