Bulldogs get EIAC win over Lions

Rushville entertained Batesville at the Richard Bradley Tennis Center Tuesday in EIAC tennis action. The Bulldogs shut out the Lions 5-0. Rushville is now 1-13 on the season and 0-5 in the EIAC.

“Playing without one of our varsity veterans, who is out with an injury, made for an interesting line-up for our guys to get used to,” Coach Holly Heuer said. “Jake Fowler, our No. 1 singles guy, is playing much better of late.”

Fowler fell to Dustin Nobbe 6-1, 6-4. At No. 2 singles, Paul Hershberger lost 6-3, 6-3 to Chris Hoseus. At No. 3 singles, Will Hogsett lost 6-0, 6-0 to Blake Walsman.

At No. 1 doubles, the duo of Chase Hamilton and Adam Martin fell 6-0, 6-1 to Henry Luchow and Nick Kirshner. At No. 2 doubles, Michael St. John and Andrew Rice lost 6-0, 6-1 to Jacob Paul and Matt Taylor.

The lone Rushville win came at No. 2 doubles where Michael St. John and Andrew Rice defeated Cole Jones and Carter Jackson 6-2, 6-7 (7-3), 6-2.

At No. 1 doubles, Chase Hamilton and Will Hogsett lost a three setter to Devin Bailey and Lucas Zarate 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.

At No. 1 singles, Jake Fowler fell 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 to Kayden Mathews. At No. 2 singles, Paul Hershberger lost 6-1, 6-1 to Daniel Beckner. Adam Martin lost 6-3, 7-5 to Cooper McCann at No. 3 singles.
