Lady Lion kickers get first win

---- — KNIGHTSTOWN – The Lady Lions knocked off Knightstown in soccer action 2-1 to pick up Rushville’s first win of the season.

Knightstown had just two shots on goal in the first half, but one was good for a goal as the Lady Panthers led the Lady Lions 1-0 at the half.

Rushville’s defense came up big in the second half, not allowing a single shot on goal.

Rushville got on the board as Jordan Linville beat her defender to tie the game at 1-1. The Lady Lions took the lead as Shyla Sharp got the ball to the box and Linville found the net.

Eight Lady Lions had shots on goal including Jill Yager with 10, Emilee Rogers nine, Linville eight, Abbey Whitaker five, Alisha Markley two, Katie Schroeder one, Sharp one and McKenzie Conrad one.

Coach Karen Brashaber praised the defensive effort of Larissa Dunn and the play of Conrad on the offensive attack at the goal.

Lady Lions make it two in a row

Rushville traveled to Franklin County and knocked off the Lady Wildcats 1-0 to move to 2-6 on the season.

Rushville scored as Alisha Markley sent the ball through the Franklin County defense and Grace Miller out-raced the defenders to the ball. Miller fired a shot under the Franklin County keeper for the goal.

Rushville keeper Nici Martin had 17 saves.

EC cruises to win

The Lady Trojans of East Central knocked off the Lady Lions 13-0.
