Today’s event

Football: Connersville at Rushville, 7 p.m.

Operation Football

Students at RCHS made a video searching for Channel 13’s Dave Calabro in a hope to get Operation Football to come to Hinshaw Field tonight for the Homecoming game against Connersville. The campaign started on Twitter and Calabro asked them to show their school spirit. The video was a success as Calabro will arrive by helicopter for the game.

Combs honored by D3football.com

RCHS graduate and current Trine University senior safety Blaek Combs was named to the d3football.com Team of the Week. Combs had 11 tackles (eight solo), a forced fumble, a tackle for loss and an interception which led to the go-ahead score in Trine’s 16-7 win over Elmhurst.

BRMS volleyball

The seventh-grade Lady Cubs volleyball team traveled to Greenfield-Central and fell to the Lady Cougars 25-11, 25-11. McKenzie Muckerheide served one ace. Leah Kemple served two points and Dru Niedenthal had a kill.

BRMS football

The seventh-grade Cubs defeated Knightstown 22-0.

Mason Springman and Gage Rosenfeld combined to pass for 52 yards and one touchdown.

Cameron Craig had 63 yards rushing. Springman followed with 60. Jordan Smith had 53 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Zek Phillips and Tyler Wilson both had 30 rushing.

On the defensive side of the ball Ethan Ziesloft led the team with five tackles. Austin McKenney, Thomas Stanley, Austin Trebley and Jordan Smith each had two tackles. Grant Colestock, Trey Cain, Jacob Amos, Brennon Baker, Duncan Draper, Kadin Crain and Cody Carmony each had one tackle.

Who to complain to?

Big Ten football coaches say there aren’t very many places where they can unload frustrations about fans, reporters or anyone else without paying a price.

On Tuesday’s weekly call with reporters, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said that about the only person a coach can vent to in confidence is his wife. And he joked that that isn’t a sure thing.

The sports website Deadspin this week released a two-year-old recording of Nebraska coach Bo Pelini complaining after a game about Cornhusker fans and news media. Pelini said he thought the conversation was private. He also has apologized.

Michigan State’s Mark Dantonio said venting is a necessity. Ferentz said he tells his players to assume they’re always being recorded and coaches have to do the same.
