Spartans claim gymnastics sectional title

---- — CONNERSVILLE – The host Lady Spartans of Connersville claimed the IHSAA gymnastics sectional title Saturday, distancing themselves from New Palestine by better than three points.

The Lady Spartans finished with a team total of 105.425. New Palestine took second with 102.000. New Castle was third with 100.475 followed by Hagerstown 98.025, Richmond 94.700, Shelbyville 90.100, Muncie Central 89.650, Rushville 86.875 (season high), Cambridge City Lincoln 76.375, Morristown 34.400, Cowan 30.125 and Muncie Southside 11.750.

New Palestine junior Kate Fee won the all-around competition with a total of 36.175. Richmond’s Chasity Wampler was second with 35.850.

Rushville’s Katie Egielske was 19th in the all-around with a 28.95 total. She scored 8.4 on vault, 7.25 on bars, 5.65 on beam and 7.65 on floor.

Caitlin Morris was 20th in the all-around with 28.45. She scored a personal best 8.45 on vault, 6.825 on bars, 6.125 on beam and 7.4 on floor.

Senior Jessica Wilson rounded out her high school career with a personal best 6.35 on bars and 6.55 on beam.

Kaitlin Chandler had a personal best 7.45 on floor, 7.55 on vault and 6.325 on beam.

Gabby Doyle had a personal best 8.1 on vault and 6.6 on floor.
