Rushville Consolidated High School senior Zach Turner has one more season with the Lions before he will head to Franklin College in the fall.
Turner is currently preparing for his senior season with the Lion track team. This fall, he will attend Franklin College and continue his education along with playing football and running track for the school.
“We are very excited about his decision to attend Franklin,” FC head football coach Mike Leonard said. “I know he is a sharp guy with an interest in environmental science and conservation and I think he will fit in well here. We have had many guys play football that have gone into that field of study.”
Turner is coming off an All-EIAC season for the football team in his senior year, playing both offense and defense for the Lions.
“I really like what Zach brought to the Lions as far as his ability to play linebacker and think he will do well at a defensive end spot here with us,” Coach Leonard added. “Our track coach Paul Sargent is equally excited about Zach’s ability in the hurdles. We are looking forward to having Zach at Franklin.”
Turner holds the school record in the 300 hurdles with a time of :40.54. His sights for this spring are to attack the school record in the 110 hurdles.
“I am excited about heading to Franklin to play football and run track,” Turner said. “I have set a goal this spring to make it to the state final in track and try to break the 110 hurdle school record.”
