Softball team wins two straight

RUSHVILLE — MUNCIE – The Lady Lion softball team rallied from a 5-1 deficit to score eight runs in the fourth inning and post an 11-6 HHC victory.

Rushville got on the board first with a solo home run by Shelby Woods in the top of the second inning. Delta answered with one run in the second and four in the third.

In the fourth, the Lady Lions scored eight runs on four hits and five walks. Riley Lanham had a 2-run single. Taylor Hoeing followed with a 2-

RBI single. Kylie Martindale’s single to left center plated another two runs in the frame.

Rushville added a run in the fifth as Nicole Hoeing walked went to third on back-to-back singles by Jessica Wilson and Martindale and scored on a Lanham ground out.

In the seventh, Wilson walked and came around to score on Woods’ double.

The Lady Eagles added a run in the bottom of the seventh to make the final margin 11-6.

Taylor Hoeing got the win for the Lady Lions, pitching five innings of relief and allowing no earned runs.

The Lady Lion reserves fell to Delta 16-2. Brown singled and Tori Colestock walked to start things for the Lady Lions. Both came around to score in the first. Delta then sent 16 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first to take control of the game.

The Lady Lions made it two in a row with a road win at North Decatur 9-4.

North led 2-0 through two innings. The Lady Lions scored four runs in the top of the third. Brooke Niehoff’s triple led off the inning. Martindale had an RBI single. Taylor Hoeing had an RBI single. Woods singled and Samantha Whitney drove in a run with a ground ball.

The Lady Chargers tied the game with a run in the third and one in the fourth.

The Lady Lions plated five runs in the fifth to seal the win. Woods and Shelbie Brown singled for the Lady Lions. Nicole Hoeing came up with a 2- run single. Niehoff singled to score a run and Martindale tripled to left center and scored on a passed ball.

The Lady Lions had 12 hits and Taylor Hoeing got the win in the circle, pitching four relief innings.
