Lions hold off game Vikings

RUSHVILLE — Lions rally past Wildcats

BROOKVILLE Ð After a poor start at Franklin County plagued by turnovers, the Lions rallied in the third quarter to win 47-43.

Rushville trailed the host Wildcats 15-7 after the first quarter and 25-12 at the half. Whatever head coach Brian Bowen discussed in the locker room at the half made a huge turnaround for the Lions. Rushville outscored the Wildcats 26-10 in the frame to grab a 38-35 lead.

The hot shooting hand in the third came from Mitch Laird. The junior guard drained four 3-pointers (three on consecutive possessions) for his 12 points in the game.

The Lions put the comeback, road victory away in the fourth quarter.

Hunter Orme and Cameron Cox both were in double figures for the Lions with 11 points each. Nate Niehoff added seven. Alex Yurack had five and Nate Hoeing hit a free throw to round out the Rushville scoring.

The Wildcats were led by the 13 points of Dylan Cregar. Skyler McCool chipped in with nine and Brett Ortman had eight.

In the junior varsity game, the Lions lost a tight game 58-57 in overtime.

Bryce Dye led the Lions with 14 points. Brad Busald chipped in with seven points. Jon Seals, Ricky Thompson and Nathan Borders all had eight points.

Sam Beavers finished with six and Alex Yurack had two.
