Lions edged by Spartans on track

Turner sets school record in 300 hurdles

RUSHVILLE — CONNERSVILLE – The Spartans were able to hold off the Lions 67-65 in track action.

Rushville’s Zach Turner broke the school record in the 300 hurdles with a winning time of :41.19. Turner was also second in the 110 hurdles at :16.01. Jeremy Hallgarth took third in the 300 with a personal best :42.80.

The Lions’ 3200 relay team of Dalton Miller, Nick Zepeda, Ashton Wilson and Ryan Fogg took first in a season best 8:39.

Zach Keim finished third in the 100 with a time of :11.78 and took second in the pole vault at 11-0.

Evan Dyer finished second in the 1600 with a time of 4:55. Miller was second in the 3200 with a time of 11:12.

Zepeda won the 400 in :51.49 with Austin Dwenger third in a PB :54.05.

Wilson took first in the 800 in 2:07.

Sam Beavers crossed the line third in the 200.

The 1600 relay team of Wilson, Beavers, Zepeda and Dwenger posted a season best and winning time of 3:32.

Joe Garland swept the discus and shot put. He went 135-0 in the discus and 46-10.5 (season best) in the shot. Cody Waggoner was second in the discus with PB 114-6 and second in the shot put with a PB 46-6.

Hallgarth cleared 5-6 in the high jump for second.

Shawn Valentine won the long jump with a PB 19-6.5.

Other PBs for the Lions included Jakob Lambert in the 300 hurdles; Patrick Duffy in the 800; Kristian Marshall in the pole vault; Nate Douglass, Evan Messer, Ian Vivares and McKinnen Flannery in the shot put; and J.T. Ephlin, Nick Hutchinson, Robert Lopat, Nick Hornaday, Flannery and Hunter Barnett in the discus.
