RUSHVILLE — Senior Mickalah York signed to play softball for Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill., at a ceremony March 14 in the KNHS library.

Witnessing the signing were (in photo, standing, left to right) Jimmy Hale, KNHS assistant principal/athletic director; mother Mindy York, and Steve Young, KNHS softball coach. Seated: brother Jacob, Mickalah, and sister, Maddison.

Primarily an outfielder, York’s defensive skills are matched by her talents on offense. She batted over .360 this season and stole 44 bases.

“She will be a real asset to Illinois’ program,” said Young. “Not only is she a strong player, she is also a team leader that works hard and inspires her team with her never-give-up attitude. She’s also a great student.”

Mickalah is the daughter of Mindy York, formerly of Rushville. She is also the granddaughter of John and Patricia Davis of Rushville.
