NEW PALESTINE – Greenfield-Central was the class of the field at the swim sectional at New Palestine Saturday. The Cougars tallied 485 team points to claim the sectional title. Mt. Vernon was second with 437 followed by Connersville 331, Richmond 221, New Palestine 186, New Castle 179, Centerville 151, Eastern Hancock 64, Hagerstown 53 and Rushville 51.
In Saturday’s finals, Sam Cole took 16th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:07.75.
The 200 medley relay team of Cole, Dalton Miller, Bradee Gwinnup and Stone Worth finished ninth in 2:11.70.
That foursome also took 10th in the 200 freestyle in a season best 1:52.46 and ninth in the 400 freestyle with a time of 4:18.36.
In the opening round on Thursday, the 200 medley relay team of Cole, Miller, Gwinnup and Worth finished ninth in 2:12.49.
Gwinnup was 23rd in the 50 freestyle with a time of :30.31.
Cole had his Saturday qualifying swim of 1:06.38 that place him 16th in the 100 butterfly.
Miller finished the 500 freestyle in 6:24.15 for 20th and Worth was 17th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:18.35.
The foursome was 10th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.74 and ninth in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:24.23.
