---- — NEW CASTLE – Three Lion wrestlers entered the semistate at New Castle Saturday looking for two wins to earn a ticket to the state finals in Indianapolis.

Unfortunately for the locals, Saturday was not their day and another very solid season on the mats came to an end for the Lion wrestling program.

Senior Garrett Hittle opened his semistate with a first round pin (5:53) of North Montgomery’s Wesley Boone. In the ticket round, Noblesville’s Ben Elliot pinned Hittle in 2:41 to end the Lion wrestler’s season. Hittle finished the year at 37-5.

Junior Tristenn Miller lost a tight match to Triton Central’s Jacob Cooper in the first round of the semistate. Miller ended the season at 33-10.

Senior Nick Hornaday lost by pin in 1:30 to eventual semistate runner-up Tyler Beeson of Greenfield-Central. Hornaday was 13-15 on the season.
