Lady Lion swimmers finish season at New Palestine

---- — NEW PALESTINE – Greenfield-Central was the class of the field at the IHSAA girls swim sectional at New Palestine. The Lady Cougars won the team title with a 395 total. Mt. Vernon (Fortville) was second with 347, just three points ahead of Connersville’s 344. New Castle took fourth with 279 followed by New Palestine 262, Centerville 175, Richmond 165, Hagerstown 130, Eastern Hancock 50 and Rushville 46.

In the preliminaries, Rushville’s 200 medley relay team of Frances Percell, Brenna Hall, Abby Clark and Courtney Hall finished 10th in 2:38.84.

Senior Clark finished 25th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:54.65. Teammate Brooke Cameron was 27th in 3:00.30 and Cara Moore was 29th in 3:04.54.

In the 50 freestyle, Rushville Teagan Warner was 25th in :33.98 with Jessica Schlechtweg 28th in 36:69 and Lindsey Flannery 29th in :39.67.

Cameron took 27th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:17.76. Clark was 28th in 1:18.94 and Moore was 29th in 1:25.56.

The Lady Lions’ 200 freestyle relay team of Brenna Hall, Percell, Courtney Hall and Cameron finished ninth in 2:09.15.

In the 100 backstroke, Rushville was led by Percell in 23rd with a time of 1:31.25. Schlechtweg finished 25th in 1:50.69.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Brenna Hall, Cameron, Courtney Hall and Clark finished 10th in 5:08.18.

The top eight finishers in the preliminary round advanced to Saturday’s finals. The next eight advanced to the consolations.

In the consolations Saturday, the Lady Lions’ 200 medley relay team of Percell, Brenna Hall, Clark and Courtney Hall finished 10th in 2:33.41.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Brenna Hall, Percell, Courtney Hall and Cameron finished ninth in 2:10.33.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Cameron, Brenna Hall, Courtney Hall and Clark took 10th in 4:59.64.
