Lady Lions open season at Richmond

---- — RICHMOND – The Lady Lions’ golf team opened the season Monday on the same course they will play in the sectional, Highland Lakes Golf Course.

Rushville took fourth in the 9-team field with a team-total 374.

Pendleton Heights won the event with a team score of 338. Connersville was second with 348 followed by Union County 360, Rushville 374, Batesville 380, Richmond 393, Franklin County 433, Muncie Central 436 and Richmond “B” incomplete.

Pendleton’s Emily Tilton was the meet medalist with a round of 73.

Batesville’s Madison McCreary was second overall with 77.

Rushville was led by senior Catie Liggett. He carded (37-42) 79 for third place overall.

Next for the Lady Lions was senior Whitley Disbro with (48-46) 94.

Senior Kylie Martindale finished with (46-personal best, 54) 100.

Freshman Megyn Kirchoff completed her first varsity round with (51-50) 101 and senior Abbey Gulde had a (61-59) 120.

The Lady Lions travel to the New Castle Invitational Saturday.
