The Lion wrestling team hosted a 5-way invitational Saturday to open the high school wrestling season. Rushville finished 1-3 on the day in the invitational featuring Westfield, Franklin County, Seymour and Indianapolis Howe.
The Lions had a bye in the first round and came out and dominated Howe 70-12 in the second round.
Rushville then fell to tournament champion Westfield 65-12. Franklin County topped the Lions 49-21 and Seymour posted a 45-33 win over the Lions.
Garrett Hittle led the Lions on the day with a 3-0 record.
Bailey Ford and Preston Bowling both picked up three wins on the day.
Lion wrestlers with two wins on the day were Randy Collyer, Gunner Yurack, Zach Roszell, Jakob Lambert and Tristenn Miller.
Patrick Friedl, Matthew Fogg, Satchel Kuhn, Christian Emerson and Nick Hornaday all had one win.
The Lions return to the mat today at Shenandoah. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
