Hello bowling fans! This is Jim Ephlin, at the Rushville Bowl, where all the action is.

We had perfect game No. 4 last Wednesday as Cody Kuhn strung 12 in a row to record his first ever honor score.

Bowling with Curtis Brothers Furniture in the Pacesetter League, Cody opened with 182 before he bowled his 300 game.

According to other bowlers, Cody had his first eight shots all hit pocket before the fun began. With all eyes on him for No. 9, Cody went high “Brooklyn” to strike and set up every bowlers dream, going for 300 in the 10th. He delivered the 10th one like he had done it a million times before and crashed all 10 pins into the pit.

The moment and probably some nerves pushed Cody’s 11th and 12th shots Brooklyn, but it was his time as they both carried and good friend Dustin Jones was out on the approach congratulating him.

Cody is a part of a very young core of good bowlers who are making their mark on the local bowling scene. This group includes Cody, Dustin Jones, Chris Glenn, Alex Byrne, Eric Carmony, Blair Webster, Scott Moore and Ben Bayless. To anyone I missed I apologize, but the point is there are some good young bowlers out here ready to take the place of the current “stars.”

The newest “Bowler of the Week” on the men’s side is Mike Lafuse who shot a 715 series in the Pacesetter League. Mike continues the trend of 50 plus bowlers dominating the award so far. Mike shot games of 220, 217 and 278 with the last game going front nine.

For the women’s weekly award, Sally Smith was the winner. Sally bowled her winning set in the Sunday Mixed League going 210, 171 and 176 for a 557 series. The winning ladies that haven’t had pictures taken are asked to bring their shirts to their next league session and have a picture taken.

Currently we are taking reservations for the 2009 State Senior Bowling Championships in Bloomington. We have reservations for Sunday, April 19 at 2:30 p.m. The tournament uses a best 3-out-of-4 format letting the bowler drop his worst game. The entry fee is $25 and a bowler needs to be signed up and paid by Jan. 1.

I made a small mistake last week telling you to watch the P.B.A. bowlers compete on a house shot. That tournament is this Sunday and should be very entertaining.

Thank you to everyone who entered the Mixed City Championships that are currently running. I should be able to provide final results next week. Currently leading team event is Krogers made up of Larry Miller, Eva Miller, Betsy Walls and Butch Robinson with 3,208. Bob Nilo and Carol Clemons lead doubles with 1,605.
