All Pro Dads meet at Mays

Rushville Elementary Schools Chapter to begin

The first meeting of the All Pro Dads for the 2013/2014 school year was held at Mays Elementary School on Sept. 10. This early morning breakfast gathering saw approximately 29 dads and kids share breakfast in the Mays gym. This is the fourth year All Pro Dads have met at Mays. The group’s organizer Matt Vance stated, “All Pro Dads was the idea of former Colts Coach Tony Dungy. This is just a great way to connect with our kids in a positive way.”

All Pro Dads is a school-based program that brings dads together with their kids at their child’s school. Dads gather monthly with their children and other dads to discuss topics relevant to school-age children and to take part in other activities. At the beginning of the Mays All Pro Dads Breakfast, dads introduced themselves and their kids. Further they shared why they are proud of what their kids are doing. Future programs may include speakers and information helpful to both dads and kids. All Pro Dads is excited to be partnering with the National PTA to put All Pro Dads Days chapters in over 1,000 schools nationwide.

The All Pro Dads program has the backing and support of several current and former NFL players. All Pro Dad’s 53 NFL Spokesmen are a group of coaches, players and alumni dedicated to their families and proud to be advocates for fatherhood. Tony Dungy, Mike Tomlin and many other men exemplify passion, discipline, work ethic, commitment and loyalty both on and off the field and in their homes. Jim Sorji (former Colts Quarterback) said it best when he remembered, “Coach Dungy taught me a lot over the years, but the most important lesson was that being a father is my most important responsibility.”

“Sometimes we get so busy with our daily schedules that we forget to focus on the good things going on in our lives. Of all the ‘jobs’ we have in this life, being a good parent is the most rewarding,” cited Vance. The next meeting of the All Pro Dads at Mays Elementary School is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Oct. 29. All Pro Dads has another chapter that meets at RESE/RESW. Their first meeting of the school year is at 7:15 a.m. Oct. 16 in the West Gym.
