More than 2,300 high school students from around the state participated in the 28th annual Indiana Academic Spell Bowl at 18 sites for grades 9-12 on Oct. 15.
Rushville Consolidated High School finished first in their division, but their score of 27 was not high enough to qualify for the state competition in November. The team was led by Carrington Houser who spelled seven of nine words correctly and Dylan Marlatt who spelled five of his nine words correctly. Other students participating were Shyanna Banks, Meghan Barnes, Kristen Clines, Tyler Netherly, Kate Rader and Hayley Schwier. The team is coached by Julie Litten.
The competition is administered by the Indiana Association of School Principals, Department of Student Programs and sponsored by Purdue University. Statewide results are available at http://www.iasp.org/index.php/student-programs/academic-competitions/spellbowl/
