Former Rushville resident, and 1997 RCHS graduate, C.J. Shields completed a Masters of Science in Science Education at Montana State University in July. The Montana State University Master of Science Education program offers unique courses both in the field (at locations near Bozeman, Montana, and in Yellowstone National Park), in the traditional classroom at Bozeman, and via distance learning. Course topics include biology, chemistry, earth science, ecology, education, engineering, environmental science, land resources, microbiology, physics, and plant sciences; all of which designed for practicing science educators.
As part of the 3 year program, C.J.’s course work included courses such as Northern Rocky Mountain Field Geology, Ecology of Trout Streams, Wildlife Ecology, and culminated with the Capstone Project in Science Education course. C.J. previously completed his BS and MS at Purdue University in Technology Education, and is currently teaching Middle School Science in Greencastle.
He is the grandson of Ethelada Shields and son of Rushville residents Jonita and Ron Shields.
