The Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) recently held the High School Band Organization Festival. Thirteen sites took part in this event the weekend of April 25. The RCHS Concert Band performed April 25 at Shelbyville.
“The band did an amazing job performing three prepared songs for a panel of three adjudicators. Each of the three panel members scored the band with a “Gold” rating. After our prepared performance, the band went to the sight reading room where we were given 10 minutes to look at a piece of music and then perform the piece for a designated judge. That judge also awarded the band a “Gold” rating. Even before the results were given you could tell that the group was proud of their performance by the look on their faces (a very rewarding observation for this director too). So, we come home with the pride of a very good performance, and the feeling that we represented Rushville and RCHS well. We also return with a nice plaque with an added Gold marker to indicate our Gold in sight reading,” T.R. Campbell, RCHS Band Director, said.
Please help us in congratulating these hardworking band members when you see them. They exemplify excellence in education and are one more reason why “Rush County Schools Are a Great Place To Be.”
