Free summer lunch program coming soon

---- — Summer is just around the corner. School will dismiss and for the next few months swimming and bike riding become the order of the day. A good lunch should always be a part of your child’s day too - no matter what time of year.

For the third year in a row, Rush County Schools will offer the Free Summer Lunch Program. This program, funded by the Federal Government through the State of Indiana, will bring lunch to kids during the summer months.

“This is a wonderful program for our youth. Last year we provided a little over 5,000 lunches to kids at four sites. In our third year we will continue to have four sites to serve the youth of our community,” Mrs. Norene Wright, Program Director, cited. Lunch will consist of a meat, bread, fruit or vegetable and milk. Participants should be no older than 18 years of age and can receive lunch at one of the following locations:

Booker T. Washington

May 28 through Aug. 1, 2014 (no lunch served July 4)

Time: 12:10 – 12:30 p.m.

Laughlin Park at shelter house

1000 Block West Second (near Spencer)

May 28 through Aug. 1, 2014 (no lunch served July 4)

Time: 11 – 11:30 a.m.

*The Boys and Girls Club will be able to attend Rushville Elementary East for lunch.
