Rosella Troyer named 2013 Milroy Alumni Scholarship winner

RUSHVILLE — The 2013 Milroy Alumni Scholarship winner is Rosella Troyer, daughter of Marvin and Miriam Troyer of the Milroy area.

Rosella has been accepted into the Nursing program at Purdue University and will begin her studies there in the fall. Rosella has excelled in academics at RCHS, maintaining a 4.095 GPA and ranking 8th in her graduating class. Rosella has been involved in several extracurricular activities at RCHS, including Spanish Club, SADD, Key Club, FFA, PHAF (Peer Helpers and Facilitators) Cheer Block, band, and tennis. She has also been honored for her academic and extracurricular activities through membership in National Honor Society, Varsity Scholars, and Top Ten and her selection to the Indiana All-Star Band.

This year, the Milroy Alumni Scholarship was sponsored by the Jackman family, Dr. Robert and Karen Jackman and their family and Ann Jackman Brackett and her family. It was dedicated to the memory of Robert and Ann’s mother and father - Lois A. Jackman, who graduated from Milroy High School in 1922 and was a long-time teacher at the school, and Frank T. Jackman, who graduated from Milroy in 1919. The Milroy school tradition has continued in the Jackman family: Robert and Ann graduated from Milroy High School; Robert’s sons, Rob and Nathan, attended Milroy school, and their children have begun their academic careers at Milroy, as well.

The Milroy Alumni Scholarship is offered to an RCHS graduating senior who attended Milroy Elementary School. The candidates must have a 3.0 grade point average and proof of registration at college or university.
