Yager to serve on IHSAA Student Advisory Committee

---- — Rushville Consolidated High School senior Casey Yager has been named to serve on the IHSAA Student Advisory Committee.

The IHSAA Student Advisory Committee provides representation of four classes in each of three districts, as well as minority, female, and urban representatives. The committee make-up is patterned after the IHSAA Board of Director’s representation of classes and districts. As a past participant of the IHSAA Student Leadership Conference, Casey Yager has been chosen to represent Rushville Consolidated High School.

Selection to this committee is not only a huge honor bit also carries with it the responsibility to communicate with participants, respective schools, communities, and athletic conferences about issues, concerns and ideas. The Student Advisory Committee is instrumental in addressing these topics on behalf of the 160,000 student athletes in Indiana.

Members of the Student Advisory Committee participate in four scheduled meetings, as well as several State Championship events throughout the school year. In addition, they conduct one or more student meetings that will take place in conjunction with the IHSAA Fall Area Principals Meetings. This meetings provide an opportunity for student athletes to present their successes, challenges, issues and concerns.

Student Advisory Committee members will participate in their annual retreat on July 27-28, 2013. During this retreat they take part in team-building exercises and participate in several thought-provoking seminars designed to benefit their school’s student leadership and athletic programs. The first official meeting is scheduled for October 6th at the IHSAA Office.
