Rushville agent joins RCHS to support new drivers

State Farm Agent Dusty Flannery is hosting a Celebrate My Drive community event to support teen drivers at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, in Rushville.

The Celebrate My Drive® community event brings together Rushville leaders, schools and parents in support of this year’s class of new drivers.

Learning to drive is a big step in life’s journey. On Oct. 18, State Farm Agent Dusty Flannery in Rushville will join with hundreds of other agents across North America in a show of support for teen drivers, helping them stay safe as they embark on the road ahead. As part of the company’s Celebrate My Drive® program, State Farm is offering teens across the U.S. and Canada the opportunity to learn more about safe driving, win grant money for their school, and be one of two schools to win a free concert by Grammy award winner Kelly Clarkson.

State Farm is amplifying the conversation around teen driving safety by hosting Celebrate My Drive® events in communities across the U.S. and Canada. Locally, we will be celebrating with an ice cream social for the entire student body and faculty at RCHS. There will be various activities and giveaways emphasizing teen driver safety, including a competition between groups of students who will perform skits based around safe driving. Rushville Mayor Mike Pavey will also join the celebration to reinforce his commitment to keeping our young drivers safe.

Communities can also help RCHS win prizes by committing to be safe drivers once daily between Oct. 18 and 26 at www.celebratemydrive.com. The top 100 high schools with the most safe driving commitments will be awarded grants ranging from $25,000 to $100,000. The top two schools will win a grand prize of a private concert by Grammy Award winner Kelly Clarkson.

Celebrate My Drive® is a different approach to a leading public health risk. Car crashes are the number one killer of teens, and a teen’s first year on the road is the most dangerous. Using research as a guide, State Farm is approaching teen driver safety, a winnable public health battle, by engaging teens while they learn to drive in a supportive and positive way. It’s a community celebration of safe driving habits emphasizing the benefits of safe choices as teens celebrate the freedom that comes with getting a drivers’ license.
