The end of the school year is fast approaching and summer school is just around the corner. Classes offered give students a way to get a jump on high school, concentrate on one subject in one session, accommodate scheduling issues during the regular school year or repeat a class. Summer school at Rushville Consolidated High School is May 28 through July 1.
Students may enroll in one or two classes. Meeting times are 7 to 10 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. All classed are five days a week. Only 6 ½ hours of class time may be missed to be eligible to receive credit for the class. Attendance is monitored on a 30-minutes basis and students must achieve the same standards of proficiency as during the regular school year.
The following classes are available: (freshmen are only eligible to take speech and world history) World History CP (first semester), World History CP (second semester), Speech, S.A.E. (no fee required) and U.S. Government CP.
All English and math classes are for remediation only and include: English for grades 9-12 (both semesters), Algebra I and II (both semesters) and Geometry (both semesters).
A fee of $25 for each class is due at the time of enrollment. Students may enroll on a first come, first served basis until classes are filled. Registration forms for summer school are available on the RCHS web page http://rchs.rushville.k12.in.us/ (look under Guidance). The deadline for registration is May 16.
If your student is interested in drivers education, there is a mandatory parent meeting at 5:30 p.m. on May 20 at RCHS in the cafeteria. This class will be meeting Monday through Friday from 1:30 to 3:20 p.m. June 9 to June 27. The instructor for this class is Andy Dunn. Should you have questions, he can be e-mailed at email@example.com.
