Steven Tincher named Vice President for Business and Public Services

Ivy Tech Community College President Thomas J. Snyder has appointed Dr. Steven Tincher as the College’s new Vice President for the Business and Public Services division. Tincher most recently served as the Chancellor for the College’s Richmond region.

This appointment comes on the heels of the College announcing the restructuring of its academic divisions into the Technology and Applied Sciences Division, Business and Public Services Division, Health Sciences Division and University and Transfer Division. Tincher is the third division vice president named. He joins Dr. Russ Baker who was earlier named Vice President of the University and Transfer Division and Sue Smith who was named Vice President for the Technology and Applied Sciences Division.

“Steve will lead our efforts in further developing our Business and Public Services division. He brings a wealth of knowledge having led the academic efforts in Richmond before being named Chancellor in that region,” Snyder said. “His experience working with regional business, industry and organizations as regional chancellor will be leveraged at the College-wide level in this new position. This is an important time for the community college as we restructure our academic offerings. Steve is a great addition to a dynamic academic leadership team being formed under the direction of Provost Mary Ostrye.”

The Business and Public Services Division will include programs designed to prepare graduates for immediate employment and degrees awarded are primarily the Associate of Applied Science. Most programs have related Technical Certificates that can be completed prior to the Associate of Applied Science, while some programs embed certifications. Tincher will lead the efforts to ensure the division’s offerings match with the needs of the business and public services sector and he will help connect students with employers.

“The link of the Business and Public Services curricula with business, industry, organizational and market needs and trends is a hallmark of the College. We look forward to strengthening that link and expanding strategic partnerships with employers and Ivy Tech. The College’s students and graduates are an essential component for economic development across Indiana’s communities. The focus of the new division structure will make that relationship even stronger,” Tincher said.
