Heart of a Lion: Recognizing achievement in attendance, academics and attitude

---- — The Lion Pride program at Rushville Consolidated High School recognizes students and staff for outstanding achievement in attendance, academics and attitude. These students and staff must be nominated for this honor. In recognition of their efforts each person received a certificate, had their name highlighted on RUSH-TV and were treated to lunch at Pizza King on Feb. 14, 2014. Many thanks to Rush/Shelby Energy for providing this months’ lunch for the Heart of a Lion Program.

Just a couple of “rules” take place at this gathering. First of all, you can order what you want (within reason of course) and second is to keep the conversation going. I was pleased to be invited to go with this group and learned a great deal about some of those “Lions” being honored. Without giving too much away, I can tell you I will now call Kaitlyn Howe “Chief.” I understand a tank is being built in a garage - a head was shaved in support of the basketball team - FFA has been a great leadership experience – Mr. Hadley is an “OK” principal and big plans are underway as these folks look to the future. In this writer’s opinion, the future is in very good hands if every community has a group like this.

“We can take great pride in the fact that RCHS students continue to set a high bench march. Their efforts set them apart as future leaders. We have a great student body that strives to put their best foot forward,” Mr. Rob Hadley (RCHS Principal) cited. The Heart of a Lion program is one aspect of the Lion Pride Program. This program also recognizes students through the Class Ring Program, Perfect Attendance Lunch, Honor Roll Ice Cream Recognition, and Scholar Athlete of the Month, VIP Breakfast, and Lion Pride Incentive Cards.

Lion Pride – another reason why “Rush County Schools are a Great Place To Be.”
