Plum Creek Christian Church
The Bible clearly states, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart I have overcome the world.” The words of Jesus will be the only truth you need when the storms of life come crashing in. Acts Chapter 27 tells of the Apostle Paul who was in hurricane force winds in a ship ready to sink at any minute. Did Paul react like the captain and the owner of the ship who had lost all hope? No, in fact he was leading and encouraging the others to not give up. Paul had been told by an angel of God, “Do not be afraid, Paul, You must stand trial before Caesar, and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.”
The men who had not taken Paul’s advice about sailing were now ready to listen when their lives were at stake. What is your response when troubles come into your life? Do you act like the men in the ship who were hopeless? Like the ship drifting in the storm pulling the anchor; we are helpless on our own. The men had to discard valuable cargo and food just to stay alive. Without God at the helm we too are prone to discard valuable things. Many time when facing hardships our moral character goes out the window. Remember God is in control. We have to cut loose all those anchors that weigh us down. Have courage and don’t lose faith! God is always with us especially in the storms.
