---- — Milroy United Methodist Church Semi-Annual Rummage Sale

Milroy United Methodist Church will hold their Semi-Annual Rummage Sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 7 at the church, 114 N. Pleasant Street, Milroy. Brand names will be priced separately. Saturday fill a sack for $2.

Third Annual Gospel Sing Sept. 7

The 2013 Third Annual Gospel Sing will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Rushville Riverside Park Amphitheater. This year’s Gospel Sing is expected to run approximately two hours. At the conclusion, Holy Communion will be offered to all those that wish to partake.

Come early, bring a picnic dinner, lawn chairs and even blankets if there will be a chill in the air.

This Ecumenical service is a non-denominational program with local performers from the area. The Gospel Sing is free and the public is invited and encouraged to attend this uplifting event.

Performers include: Vicki Campbell, Scott Evans, Annie Frost, The Farley Family, Dreama Hallgarth, Harmony, The Praise Band, John Mikkiah Thompson, Carol Tressler and Scott Wildey.

Riverside Park Amphitheater is a premier outdoor venue located at 100 West Water Street in Rushville. The venue is a great destination annually hosting live music events and creating a great family-friendly environment. Parking is conveniently available in gravel lots or in surrounding business. Special handicap parking is also available.

Ray’s Crossing Day

Don’t miss the food and fund during the Annual Ray’s Crossing Day event on Saturday, Sept. 14. They will be cooking ham and beans over an open fire in a cast iron pot, baking up cornbread, grilling up rib eyes, and preparing other delicious side dishes that will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a silent auction from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a live auction to begin at 1 p.m. The little country store will be open with fresh baked goods, books, and knick knacks. Enjoy seeing the antique engines on display, as well as, booths featuring Avon, Thirty-One, Party Lite, Tastefully Simple, homemade jams and jellies, crafts, and much, much more! Come out and join The Ray’s Crossing community for a day of food and fun at 2115 N 600 E, Shelbyville, IN 46176. The little white church that is the light of the community!

Amped Up 2013 at Riverside Park Amphitheater

Plum Creek Christian Church (PCCC) will be hosting “Amped Up 2013” at 11 a.m. at Rushville’s Riverside Park Amphitheater on Sunday, Sept. 22. This is PCCC’s annual contemporary and casual community outdoor service. Everyone is asked to bring a lawn chair from home and encouraged to bring a covered dish/dessert for the meal afterward. PCCC will have some chairs on hand as well. Please enter at the Morgan Street entrance where you will be greeted by volunteers who will help you get parked and will handle any other needs you may have. PCCC is excited for you to meet their new youth minister who will be handling the fun activities along with his team. Do you need a “spiritual” Shot of God’s word? Or a “God” moment you have been praying for? Then PLEASE join us for Amped up 2013, September 22 at Rushville’s Riverside Park Amphitheater. It will an experience you will thank God for bringing you to. It’s packed full of singing, hearing God’s word and a wonderful buffet of food afterwards. If you have been waiting for the Lord to budge you, then this is the reason. Please come and join us and come as yourself and leave as a new creation of the person God created you for! We look forward to welcoming you and praying for the “GOD” experience you have praying for. The set time for the service is 11a.m. until 3 p.m. but there is no set time for it to end. If the Lord places it on your heart to stay longer, then by all means stay longer. There will always be someone there to talk to you about the Lord. This year’s RushFest Mayor’s Breakfast will be held at the Elks Lodge followed by this Plum Creek Christian Church’s Amped Up 2013 service.

First Southern Baptist Celebrates 55th Homecoming

First Southern Baptist will celebrate its 55th Homecoming on Sunday, September 8, 2013. The festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. with Sunday School. There is a class for every age group from preschool and kindergarten to senior adults. Dr. John Rogers, Director of Evangelism and Prayer Strategy with State Convention of Baptists in Indiana, will preach the morning service at 10:30 a.m . A contemporary gospel group from Dillsboro, IN, “Sanctified 7,” will minister in song in both the morning and afternoon service. The group formed in 2009 and has a mixture of youth and middle-aged singers and musicians. A meal will be served in the fellowship hall at 12 noon. First Southern Baptist has enjoyed a rich heritage of gospel music throughout the years and will continue that tradition as the featured group, “Sanctified 7,” and local talent will participate in an afternoon concert. Join us for this very special day as we celebrate 55 years of ministry. Nursery care is provided and the church van is available for transportation needs. We are located at 1159 S. Main Street Christian Church

Main Street Christian Church announces the following up and coming events. This Sunday Labor Day observance will feature a special message by Pastor Sam Davenport, “Invited to Dinner. . . by Jesus” based on Luke 14.

Children’s Sunday Morning Bible Adventure begins this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Adventure is for all children Kindergarten through Sixth Grade.

Sunday, Sept. 8, Main Street Christian Church invites the community to join them at 9:30 a.m. at Riverside Park for “Praise in the Park.” The service of song and praise will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will feature Rushville’s own “One Voice.” Following the service a pitch-in picnic will be hosted by the congregation’s Board of Deacons. The service will be in place of the congregations two services.

Saturday, Sept. 21 the congregation’s annual Fish Fry will be held at 615 N. Main from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Fish sandwiches may be purchases on the front lawn of the church from 10-11 a.m. during the parade. A Rummage Sale will be held simultanously to benefit the Manna Mission.

September’s Manna Mission dinner will be served on Tuesday evening Sept. 24, from 5–7 p.m. The meal is served for anyone who desires a meal. Persons may eat in the church dinning room on may carry out.

The public is invited and welcomed to attend all events and services.

St. John’s - Enochsburg

St. John’s, Enochsburg, church picnic is Sept. 1. Chicken and roast beef dinners served beginning at 11 a.m. Games, beer garden, raffles, silent auction.

Faith Baptist Church - Morristown

Sunday, Sept. 1 Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the worship service at 10:30 a.m. A pitch-in lunch will be held at noon, followed by the afternoon worship service at 12:45 p.m. A new Sunday school class will begin on Sunday, Sept. 1 called “Basics for Believers” taught by Joe Hansome, deacon, at 9:30 a.m. and continue on Sundays.

Wednesday, Sept. 4 will be the weekly prayer and Bible study meeting at 7 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 8 will be the next small group home Bible study at 5 p.m. The sign up sheet is on the organ bench in the sanctuary.

Saturday, Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. will be the 50 & Wiser group cookout and fellowship hosted by Bill and Judy Schutt, 6147 E. CR 300S, Greenfield. Meat, dinnerware and drinks will be provided. Sign up for desserts and side dishes at the organ bench in the sanctuary.

Changing Footprints

The Gathering

The Gathering is open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by and check out the clothing and have a cup of coffee at 245 North Main St., Rushville. The first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m., we host a group called “Life Matters.” We’ll sing a few songs, and enjoy a discussion on relevant “life matters!” While the adults meet to get a greater understanding of what the Bible says about life matters, children ages 4 through 4th grade will enjoy an exciting time of silly songs, Bible stories and crafts at KIDS J.A.M.
